I recently wrote about Dr Michael Mosley and the Blood Sugar diet which I started then my husband had eye problems added to his existing Parkinsons, necessitating many hospital visits and I just lost the thread somehow. I am now in a place where my BS is shockingly high and I really am not incredibly overweight by some standards, but for me I have gained at least a stone in the last year. I quit smoking in Oct 2015 and that is where my sugars started running amoke. Apparently this is not uncommon, and is not necessarily related to eating. Although I cannot put my hand on heart and say I have not been eating little bits and pieces especially in the evenings. However, coming 5:2 to my senses and now on 2nd diet day of this. I do take a supplement twice a day which Dr Mosley states can be included.

I checked ny BS just now and still in high teens - I am wondering just how long it may be before I might see my BS dropping, also trying to include at least 30 minutes of walking a day, although I am fairly active.

Is this the thread you lost @ExChocoholic?

If you are doing 5:2 are you doing 5 restricted and 2 more free or the other way around?

Either way, if your numbers are as high as you describe, I would expect your liver will have built up a supply of sugars it'll release in efforts to keep your bloods up, in your body's current comfort zone. Our bodies like to run to routines, so your body will be trying hard to maintain it's raised levels fr as long as it can.

In your shoes, I might be inclined to go for a tougher kick-start to try to get those stores shifted a bit more quickly, but I completely understand that isn't for everyone.

Be patient. Once your body is losing it's battle to stay in it's current comfort zone, it'll likely give in and find a new comfort zone, set a bit lower.

I certainly didn't have a linear drop in my bloods when diagnosed, mine serially notched downwards. I can't recall what sort of time span there was between notches, but my HbA1c stats are in my signature, so you can see they came down quite a way on four months, so hopefully yours will "get with the plan" soon.

Good luck with it all.
