Hello
Only joined this site recently, so just wanted to add to the discussion on 'Blood sugar diet'.
GP told me vaguely that I was pre-diabetic, and mentioned '6.8' percent blood sugar but didn't explain quite what that was. I did my own research and apparently getting a '7' means I would be type two diabetic. Scary. No meds or advice except eat healthy.
I happened upon Mosley's book by accident, and have followed the diet for 4 weeks, Lost 2 stone in weight, more active (walking mostly), lost 3 inches off my waistline. So if you want to lose weight quickly it works, however, as I am not on meds or testing myself, it is quite severe so I think anyone trying it should follow advice in the book, and discuss with GP first (& test!).
I thought I would struggle as I have a very sweet tooth, so I scared myself by looking at end stage diabetes images to stop me reaching for the biscuits!
Curiously, it's not the sugary things I crave, it's carbs like crisps - which I now know get altered into glucose in your body (I know it's more complex than that).
So, for those that don't know, it's a low calorie (around 800 calories per day), no carbs (or very few), and no sugar diet. Not for the faint-hearted.... I would be very careful if you are already Type I or II and on medication/insulin.
Hope that helps...
