I won’t bore you with the details but following a routine blood test in May I was contacted nearly 3 weeks later to say my Hba1C was 100 and could I make an appointment with diabetic nurse -first available appointment was again nearly 3 weeks later so pretty much 6 weeks after my initial blood test. I had a blood test last week and a review booked for 3pm today. I received a message today to say my appointment was cancelled and rebooked for the 6th October!

I gleaned from the receptionist at my surgery that my Hba1C was down to 56 (bearing in mind it was a good 3/4 weeks before I took any action diet and weight wise so I would expect this to fall further in next couple of weeks.)

I want a more up to date figure to discuss with my nurse on the 6th October and trying to get a self requested test from my surgery is like getting blood from a stone. So my question is this, any idea how/where I can get a private blood test ahead of my appointment?
I am aware these tests are available I just wanted to know which ones you would recommend.
Thanks guys

Which area of the country do you live in?
Coverage for private testing is a bit hit and miss..?

Although medichecks appear to still run their postal service

I am in Weston Super Mare Somerset
OK ... you can get one by post from the link I provided above. I have used medichecks in the past without problem.
There are various options for blood collection including finger pricking yourself at home.

Edit to add Boots also do one.

This one slightly cheaper

I think a few forum members have used this too but so far as I recall with varying levels of accuracy..

4 tests for £74...
