Finally had my appointment with the diabetes nurse. She confirmed my suspicion that I was now Type 2, with a reading of 48, which she explained was just 1 point into this range. I then showed her my 3 month plan for lifestyle and dietary changes (low carb higher fat), which I am now 1 month into. Given my weight loss and glucose meter reading for the past month, she was impressed and surprised to say the least. She also felt on the basis of this and that I was only 1 point into the range I was probably no longer at this level so recorded me as pre-diabetic on the record. A further blood test in 2 months where we both hope I will have achieved 42 or under.
It was ONLY after finding this forum and receiving all the help, support and advice from its members that I was able to get my head around Type 2 and formulate a plan of action. I know I am lucky having a small reading and that many 'newbies' have far higher readings, however, the principle is the same. Formulate your own plan, commit to it, modify it as required, in the expectation that your reading will come down.
