This week we spent a couple of days away in our caravan. It rained from beginning to end but that's another story...this was the first trip away since my pre diabetic diagnosis. In a caravan in the pouring rain what else is there to do but eat...or I would have done pre diagnosis. I did have a slice of toast (burgen) each morning for breakfast but previously I would have had a few slices of white bread and jam. I made some low carb chocolate and peanut butter brownies to take away (delicious by the way) so was still low carb and I took fruit and yoghurt for breakfast. I was shocked to see that shloer has more carbs (sugar) than pepsi - I didn't drink either!
I tried a couple of experiments to see how my bg would be affected:
1. I had a child's portion of fish and chips. pre meal my bg was 4.5. after 1 hour it was 7.5, after 2 it was 7.3
2. sausage, bacon and 3 spoons of baked beans. pre meal my bg was 5.6. after 2 hours it was 7.1, after 2 1/2 hours it was 5.8
back to normal eating now I am home!
