I like my coffee at work 2-3 cups a day was wondering if used double cream instead of the coffemate I use at the moment (massive amount of carbs in a teaspoonful) would that be ok.
what nuts can I use other than brazils which are the only ones that seem to be really low in carbs the rest seem to be very high per 100gr.

I am type 2 diet controlled taking a 40mg statin
Many thanks

I'm not a coffee drinker myself but If you are only drinking 2-3 cups of coffee per day, I really don't think a 'splash' of milk will do you any harm. If you was drinking a massive amount of coffee in a day then all those 'splashes' of course add up but milk is probably preferable to coffee-mate.
As for nuts, many folks on here are into macadamia nuts. They are a bit pricey but tasty and pretty low in carbs. I think most nuts apart from peanuts and cashews are pretty much okay to enjoy though. Enjoy!

I always use double cream in my coffee. Frankly, nothing else is good enough for a low carber!!!!!
Have you tried macadamia nuts? Highly recommended too!

Hi Chris,

On the nut front, I'd have to recommend pecans.

Per 100g, they're around 14g carb, but 10g of that is fiber.

timo.

Cream is the ideal for coffee. I'd have it even if I weren't a reduced carber, just for the taste.Bernstein recmmends it too. However it's NOT for tea.

don't know those but I just make mine from granules, I believe that some of the more "exotic" coffees like mochas and lattes can be high in calories because of the amount of sugar :!:

As for nuts I reaaaallllly love roast almonds (M and S do a good one) and they are not too bad on carbs. I have a little milk in my tea and coffee but if I was really low carbing it I'd go for soya milk in tea and cream in coffee. Don't try soya milk in coffee though - it curdles!

Almonds a great superfood, but much better raw! :D
