Good afternoon I am a little disappointed with my 9 month assessment Hb1Ac 44 cholesterol 4.3 results say normal, but to be honest i did expect it,just a gut feeling nothing else has changed diet the same ,oh well I shall go and get the results printed out tomorrow.

Rise in Cholesterol from 3.9 to 4.3
and Hb1Ac from 39 to 44

Last test results 3 months ago
6th April 2017 Metformin/stopped/Cholesterol 3.9 Hb1Ac/39/5.7/

Good afternoon @mo53 and thank you my dear friend I am Ok I suppose I expected it to keep dropping it worries me a little now that it has gone up from the last time, but I suppose when the surgery and the printout say normal, that's OK:)

Oh, @wiseowl_123 - don't be downhearted. It's a bump in your road, that's all. Is this your first one since stopping the Metformin? Might that have popped the result up a little bit?

P.S. Your blog is one of the most soothing things I've ever seen. Thank you so much for linking to it.

Hello @wiseowl_123 it was only a tiny rise. I think slight fluctuations must be normal. A three month period is a long time. :)

Good afternoon @mo53 @SockFiddler and@hca my friends many thanks for your kind and friendly posts they are very much appreciated, and thank you@Sockfiddler for your lovely comments about my Blog, its cheered yours truly up a treat:)

ps I have decided to give up butter and my 40 grams of porridge and revert back to Flora pro active just to see how it goes:)

Those results are very good. Just one question - why do you want to revert to a more processed food (Flora pro-active)?

Very good idea to give up your porridge. It could be one of the reasons for slightly higher levels. However, I don't understand why you want to give up butter and eat processed stuff? What reason are you doing this for?

Good evening @Bluetit1802 my friend well its just that for the first 6 months I changed from Flora proactive to butter and as my diet is exactly the same every day,and when I was eating the Flora my cholesterol was 3.8 and 3.9 and since only eating butter for the last 3 months this time it was 4.3,it is only an experiment like everything else;)

Blimey @wiseowl_123 there is nothing wrong with your total cholesterol at 4.3. What you need to know is the breakdown before changing back to Flora. Butter is much better for you, and also far nicer! It's not good for cholesterol to be too low, but tell us what the breakdown is and we may be able to advise further. The total on its own is meaningless. It is ratios that are important.

Good evening @Bluetit1802 my friend and thank you I shall get the printout tomorrow as these results were over the phone and will post it back on this thread asap,in the morning, enjoy your evening:)

Giving up butter and 40 grams of porridge is two changes so will not result in a valid experiment. Try giving up porridge and see what the result is in 3 months time. PS what will you replace the porridge with?

To me your result is very good.

The graph of life is seldom a straight line - you are doing a good job, control is the important bit, not continually reducing numbers.

(Many apologies in advance - I have a thing for writing stupid limericks. This will happen again. I really am sorry)

There was once an owl who was wise,
Who took long walks out under the skies
"Flora or butter?"
He often would mutter
"This difference I cannot surmise!"

Which do you enjoy eating more, @wiseowl_123 ?

Good morning no@SockFiddler my friend its Butter half inch thick on a slice of Lidl's Roll,,your limerick is most welcome and has made me smile and at 5am in the morning that takes some doing;) enjoy:) your day my friend

@wiseowl_123 those cholesterol results are absolutely ideal. Many on here will be envious.
Your trigs/HDL ratio isn't shown but it is 0.54

The ratios are the important ones, plus the triglycerides.
Ratios should be
Total/HDL under 5
Non HDL under 3.4
Trigs/HDL under 0.87

No need to be worried at all.
