Hey I am one of those t1s that avoid doing much different to the day to avoid having to worry!

Tomorrow work are making me sit along side a lorry driver just to see how other areas of the business works. I have to be there by 5am, so eat bfast by like .4 3oam, how should I adjust the day?! Going to be ina lorry all day! Thanks

If you are otherwise more active in the day then you may find your insulin will need to be increased to cover your food, eating early shouldn't be a problem but remember to take your meter along so you can test throughout the day.

Enjoy! :)

Coolpot..

I assume that you are on the MDI regime?

The only thing that might be effect with eating your breakfast a lot earlier than normal, is your insulin ratio's.. It could be that the resistance normally associated with later in the morning, it could still be at a lower resistance..

So you need to think which way you want to play this, take a slightly reduced amount of insulin, or take the same amount? Either way, I would do some extra testing to ensure you either catch an high or a pending low very quickly, and plenty of hypo kit just in case.

Hi there have you thought of having your breakfast in the lorry, at a more reasonable time? because that is such an early start. I would of thought you were entitled to 'tweak' your food routine due to having diabetes. I can't see why not, because you would be sitting with the driver and the driver probably has a break every couple of hours or so :?
Good luck and I hope you enjoy being part of a different side of your work. Best wishes RRB

as said before, make sure you take your testing kit, and carry something just in case,(mars bar or lucozade+ carbs) as its not always going to be convienient to stop....better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it.
