A small battle won!

I had test strips prescribed by nurse last year, was very frugal with them and didn't ask for too many from doc! Got a letter a fortnight ago telling me that I wouldn't be entitled to any more on repeat prescription as there was no need for me to test being type 2 and on medication!

I saw red, not sure why, but I was not a happy bunny. I am a teacher who drives a minibus and one thing I do is to test before I drive, it gives me peace of mind that I am not endangering my pupils and apparently (courtesy of some excellent information on here) I should do so in case I have an accident so that my diabetes can be ruled out. I am also on Januvia, which they are not sure is working well for me, and as this costs a fortune it may be changed!

So - I wrote a very nice letter pointing all these facts out and how I wanted to take control of my diabetes, and

drum roll please


I have had this decision reversed and they are back on my prescription! Whoo hooo

A small victory - but a victory none the less and I was very polite and stated I knew it wasn't them but a cost cutting exercise!

So - it is worth it! I am glad I wrote as I don't think I could have been so elequent in words as in writing!

Thats great to hear Fi , well done to you I am on diet and exercise alone, nurse wanted me on Metformin immediately but I asked for three months grace and , now in the two years since diagnosis, have managed to stay off meds by being ultra careful what I eat . However, despite repeated requests , my Doc refuses to prescribe test strips for me , even though I pointed out that it was only by using them and regular testing that I have managed to gain good control , makes me so bloomin angry, but she wont budge :evil:

I have been pointing this out for some time now .They can't stop the strips because the responcability lays with them :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:
Yep one person out of all the other posts about this subject has excerside her rights (using the pass the book theory ) Its a break thru i only hope every one reads it and follows by example

I am chuffed with myself - hopefully I haven't annoyed the doc too much (she is a very good doc and I really do think most of this is from on high!) and hopefully my letter can be used as evidence by her to get the powers to be to reconsider!
