A to Z of Music

Dear No More Donuts,

I sang his Washington, DC church funeral service with a choir at a local Orthodox cathedral here where he attended with his wife. He and his wife, the great soprano singer Galina Vishnevksaya, were very religious people. His wife, who has now also passed away, wrote an autobiography, Galina, which includes a lot of information about their private lives. I knew people here in Washington who became Orthodox because of his living example of the faith. So, although he died in Moscow and had a huge thousands of people funeral there and the buriel service there, we held one for him here so that all the people from the Symphony he directed and all others who knew him could mourn him publicly and wish him eternal memory.

And you thought I picked him at random ....
