Because of nasty side effects which kept me housebound I thought I would give it a try without them, as I needed to go out to shop. I stopped taking them and, on Saturday was able to go out which was lovely after so long stuck in. I have been feeling well over the last 4 days. Last night I thought I would try taking a tablet (SR) as I know it's said they have benefits, but today I feel sooo sick, it feels like I have a whole melon stuck in my stomach and that painful wind has returned to my lower stomach. I guess now I know that it IS the Metformin that has been making me unwell for definate. While I was off them my BG levels didn't alter from the 4s to 5s and the odd one in the 6s, and occasionally 7.0 1 hr after eating, in fact I had a mild hypo early yesterday evening. I will report this to my dr when I see him or her.

Hi. Sounds like your body doesn't like any type of Metformin. It is at it's most useful if you are overweight so if you are normal weight or coming down then having Metformin is not critical but a good diet is.
