I there I am feeling run down at the moment high temperature feeling nauseated very tired etc and passing a lot of urine. Ive just done my blood sugar and I was horrified it is 12.9 not been like that in a long time. Ive not been eating any more carbs than normal and been taking my medications as usual 2 glipazide and 4 metformin a day. I am not overly concerned about 12.9 they have been a lot worse Ive had them in the 20s before. But any idea on how I can get my blood sugars down I dont feel up to exercise and is there a link between a virus and high blood sugar.

Yes is the short answer. So many things can impact on bs levels. Wheneve i get a cold or virus my BS can get up to 13/14. I just make sure I drink plenty of fluids and try to eat as normally as possible and don't beleive the old wives tales of starve a fever feed a cold. I should know - I'm an old wife.:) If it doesn't settle down in a couple of days try and get an appt with gp or at least diabetic nurse.

Yes, any illness or infection will raise your blood sugar. If you are just on tablets there is little you can do other than temporarily reducing your carbs further. If on insulin you, of course, can increase the shots for a while
