A1C 59 and cholesterol 7.3

Just been to the doctors for my latest result of my blood test.
The figures given are
A1C 59
Cholesterol 7.3
Currents meds
Jardiance
Metformin

The doctor wants to put me on Statins.
What do you guys think of statins.

Do you have the breakdown of your cholesterol levels? Total cholesterol tells you nothing, the full details should be in your online results but you can ask for a printout of them from your practice.

I was told I need to get my cholesterol down to 5.0 and my A1C to 40.

They tell everyone to lower their cholesterol without discussing the breakdown. An A1c of 40 is a good target to aim for and some people manage to get theirs even lower.
