Hi. I'm not quite sure of the scale you are using. Most of us talk in mmols in line with our meter readings - are you talking HbA1c (IFCC) scale of 101 (ie. just over 15mmols) or 101 mg/dL (ie. about 5.6mmols only)? Just don't want to be confused and give the wrong advice. Also, you say its coming down but from what originally and when did it start? You are also only referring to your fasting, I presume waking, level..but what kind of readings are you getting at other times. If you are eating no carbs at all everything should drop. What do you know about liver dump in the morning? If it is generally that high despite no carbs - and you're not dehydrated - you should seek medical advice..are you on any meds? More details would help.

I assume the 101 is mg/dl since you imply you take a reading regularly. That is 5.6 in mmol and is a perfectly satisfactory reading since it needs to be over 7 (126) to be diagnosed. Personally I think that the importance of the fasting reading can be over rated since you may have no idea when a liver dump happened and therefore no idea as to how long afterwards you are carrying out the testing. Taking a reading two hours after eating will be more informative.

Weight loss definitely happens with low/no carb diets but it is not quick. A slow and steady weight loss is often reported on here and is exactly what happened to me. Although it is fine to replace carbs with other food you still have to keep one eye on calories since it is still possible to eat too much overall.
