hi
New to this site but not newly diagnosed! Today I have been told I am to start injecting abasaglar in the evening with a hope of reducing high morning readings! Can anyone comment in their experiences with it?

I have not heard anyone mention this medication before but will bump your post up and hope someone is using it.
 
Hi. Abasaglar is also commonly know as Lantus - a 24 hour Basal insulin. Can you let us know what your morning readings were? It's unusual to take Basal insulin just to manage high morning readings? Have you already been prescribed any tablets for diabetes which would be the normal first step for T2 as well as reducing meal-time carbs? There are many users on Lantus on these forums and together with Levemir, they are the two most common 24 hour insulins and give few problems with the right injection level.
 
Just to add to Daibell's comment, Lantus (Glargine) lost its patented status about a year ago and Abasaglar is the generic version of the same insulin. What that means is that it is a cheaper version of the same thing. As has been mentioned, there is much experience.
