Hello folks
I am type 2 diet controlled with no meds (yet), I have been testing for a week now and I am currently using the Accuchek nano, however my budget wont stretch to paying for the strips, so I opted to buy a codefree meter this will make buying the strips affordable. I did a test on the same bleeding finger but the codefree meter read at .2 lower than the nano, will this make a difference? It was still within normal range however and the test was done 2 hours after my lunch.

I just wanted to know how, if any, this discrepancy will effect me please.

Thanks
Mark

Oh I am keeping the fastclix lancer cause it is less fuss and kinder to my teabag fingers.

A 0.2 variation between meters is very good, you can get that sort of difference if you used the same meter and 2 strips using the same blood sample. Theres no need to do anything different, its worth having a search on here to see comparisons others have noticed between the code free and their previous meters, as its been reported it reads higher than other meters.

Thanks for the reply's folks.

I haven't tried contacting the manufacturer so I can do that and see how much cheaper the strips are, although they would need to be a lot cheaper. I like the nano cause its easy to read and simple to use, however, I will get used to the codefree should the accuchek strips be too expensive.

I basically use the meter to see what foods soike me more than others so that I can either adjust the portions or find an alternative. I have only once went over 8.5 after a meal and that was the battered chicken steak which 2 hours after shot my BG upto 10.0. Pre meal have always been around 5.4 ish.

thanks again guys for the help.

I did ask, but she said that I don't need to test as I am on diet only, even when I said it would be helpful to find out what food effected me the most. She is more of a practice nurse than a diabetes nurse. I might ask the nurse that does the DESMOND course once I finally get on it.

Thanks for the advice folks.
