about to move to basal/bolus.....what kind should i request?

What kind or brand of insulin would you all reccomend?

What kind of pens will be on offer for me at my first clinic appt when I move onto basal/bolus?

Any tips for my first appt?

I am on Humalog, their pens do half units which is sometimes handy. I wasn't offered any choices though ! I was just given the pens and shown how to use them so I wouldn't know if this is better or worse than any other make of insulin.

My preference is Novorapid and lantus but much will depend on what your diabetes team say. Should you get offered Novorapid insulin ask for the NovoPen Echo, it has a memory function on it and delivers in half units also, ideal for corrections and such.

Tips, ask as many questions as possible and ask them to get your name down for DAFNE (carb counting course) which is useful when on basal/bolus, the waiting times are quite long so you'll be use to the new routine once a place comes around.

I've used the brand 'novo nordisk' since diagnosis 34 years ago. I'm on novo rapid and levemir and I use the novo pen echo as stated previously. Loved all the novo pens over the years
