Hi folks done my tests yesterday and my meter read8.0 (fast test) to 18.3.
I thought this was quite a jump so i discarded the prick needle then fit another and got a reading of 10.4. has anyone had any trouble with there meter like this and if so is there anyway to test the meter? :?
Type 2 and cartridge type meter .

Hi, could it be a problem with your finger?? Ie, could you have had a bit of something sweet on your finger? You can request control solution from Accuchek...always worth doing. Might be a dodgy strip too...not common, but does happen.

Hi sugar . I had washed my hands ( pump action disenfectant) I am still testing four times a day and have been keeping record of the results for my nurse ,but sometimes the cartridge does'nt always deliver the strips. Have followed the instructions for maintenance / cleaning etc. Are these type of meter popular?

I am no expert to be hoonest. i did have one for a few years...and it worked well, right up until it broke...always becasue the drum got jammed etc. I had about 4 of them in 2 years..always replaced free of charge by Roche/Accuchek. Are they popular...not sure. i know that they are not popular with anyone who has to buy their own strips, as teh cost per strip is quite expensive I think.

Sounds to be like you are doing everything right...have you tried calling them? They should be able to offer some advice...or at least some control solution!

Thanks sugar it seems when i was diagnosed the dn basicly passed me the meter and more or less i quote ("see how you get on with it with no demo at all"). But i must admit my partner and i have had some laughs over this machine. I shall ring them and see whats wot. Thankyou for your help JF.

I use the Accu-Chek® Compact Plus Black one looks like a phone when your out

I found better to bring the meter in from the side of the finger to pick up blood
on the side of finger ,instead of going end on, also gives you a better view , because the strips do not stick out that far

I have had the odd duff strip no more than any other meter i have used

I like this meter when out less mucking around (well until the drum runs out)
it takes normal AA bat
Phone Accu-Chek normally send you out a new meter no charge
same for test solution

I am lucky as i get my strips on prescription

Thanks for your advice :D
