Battery life or literally how long the unit will last before failure? If it's the latter, then it all depends on what the failure is...
It's my understanding that insulin pumps require personal insurance, so in the event of any kind of issue - it is simply replaced. In that circumstance, the life expectancy is irrelevant.
Yeah is just that I read somewhere that the life span of a pump is about four years mine isn't far off that so was wandering if it starts to show problems in the run up ?

Check with your diabetes team. Pumps and policies vary, but four years is a common time for a pump renewal.
It's not so much that they start going wrong, more that they have a guarantee for a specific length of time. In fact, one of my older pumps actually switched off after its End Time (with numerous prior warnings, of course, to enable me to get a new pump) . There was nothing wrong with it and it was as good on its last day as its first.
