Accu-Chek Insight Rapid Consumables

Just wondered if anyone else using a Accu-Chek Insight pump with Rapid Infusion sets and Rapid cannulas have had an email from Roche saying there has been a manufacturing problem with Insight rapid and they are no longer available until this is rectified and they are back in stock ?
 
Beat port of call initially may be your hospital? They may have some spares?

Not like Accuchek to be limiting?don't understand that...
 
On another forum people are saying a lot of stuff from Roche is out of stock and a massive backlog has built up.
What bugs me is that new people are being put on that pump still, yet no supplies
 
I think they have problems with their manufacturers. One set that should have been available in July still hasn't been launched. Makes me wonder if its quality issues...
I know that because I was (still am) only eating 1 meal a day I once again found their sets erratic during the day and it was blamed upon me being lean and muscular.....I accepted this and came off the pump. Went to 4mm MDI and pretty stable at all times except my overnight stay in hospital last week where they just didn't have a clue on diabetes management.
To me if they are having issues on supply then they should be giving more clarification on what is causing the actual supply problem. Ie is it because of quality or being held up at the import stage or excessive demand and indeed why they are not halting new persons temporarily going oñ to the pump....perhaps MHRA involvement would push Accuchek into giving more clarity.
 
I contacted them on the 21st of October regarding issues with the 8mm sets, told me they would get their technical department to look into the problem but I've heard nothing, seriously considering switching back to mdi as the sets only seem to work in a couple of sites and I asked them if the 10mm or the steel cannulas would be better, but as I said, no reply.

You should report every set issue to MHRA website.

I would have done but got told the problems were withe being lean and muscly and not fat for cannulas to work constantly. I was told to replace the 6mm rapid d's daily initially. Plastic ones have never been good in me due to them blocking so easily.

You really should phone accuchek back and speak to their pump care team. There should not be issues with sets.

Are you 100% that there is no way the causation can be foods, bolus's basal rates, timing setings etc. i knew 100% as I only ate at 6pm each day. So when one day basal and readings were good and the next went horrendous they know with me that it is not any incorrect configurations. Then even with daily changes -my worst day was 5 changes in one day.... Then the next day perfect... It was all blamed upon me being to lean.

Honest, if you are getting any failures where you can guarantee its the equipment then the only way is to report to MHRA and also email Accuchek as well.
 
I tend to eat the same amount of carbs daily and usually keep to the foods that work for me ( boring I know lol ) I've noticed that if I keep to the side of my stomach everything is fine but nearer the six pack area ( keg ) I find I have to increase the amount of insulin, so at the moment I'm using the sides but a little concerned of overuse.
 
My job ( plasterer ) is quite physical with lots of bending and stretching and wonderd if that could disturb the cannula
 
I could only wear in my bum due to my job aspect as well as a gardener. They clogged anywhere or fell off anywhere on my stomach. Are you plasticor steel?
 
I've been told that the steel 6mm cannula only are out of stock, so I'll be getting extra full sets with tubing. Wasteful, but better than nothing.

@philchap1 I've noticed that I need to be careful on location when I'm planning a long run or even yoga sessions as certain locations end up either putting pressure on it, knocking it, or as you suspect more twisty. My last long race was particularly painful and I almost stopped at 30 miles to change it.

It seems Ive got an appointment now with the infusion rep and my DSN to discuss the options moving forward. Funnily enough arranged by the Roche Order specialist with my DSN. Roche will not comment any further as to when or if the Rapid Insight infusion/steel cannula will eventually be back in stock once again.

Personally Ive had no problems with the Rapid Insight steel cannula and infusion set. Just lots of issues with the teflon/plastic ones which bend/kink/block all the time. But this is due to Lipohypertrophy with me unfortunately, built up over the years on MDI.

Call me cynical, but I guess it's another corporate marketing machine on consumables once again.....just check out the prices in America to buy your pump supplies...ouch !!
 
Perhaps you can have a Roche combo pump instead, this pump cartridge has the luer lock on it so other pump company cannulas will fit the combo.
 
I took a look at the Insight consumables. The connector system must massively increase the production cost on those things. It's daft!
