I have used the Accu-Chek Mobile monitor for a very long time and find it amazingly compact and very hard wearing and robust. Roche the German company that made this had to stop making it in 2022 as it had always had to sell it at a loss due to the high cost to manufacture it, it only made money from its mobile cassettes for the machine. I use this machine in preference to the others because I need a machine that has everything included and I can test on the move without having to find somewhere to take the pot of test strips out, load it, prick my figure, discard the test strip and then pack it away..... what a blooming palaver that is....! This is so easy to use and as I have been a type 1 Diabetic since 1982 and driven HGV Class 1 since 1983 I need to test very regularly to satisfy DVLA that I am in control of my condition, this machine not only does all of that but it also holds 2000 readings which I can download onto 'My Sugar', app for ease of 3rd parties and myself to read. I also use the Freestyle Libre 2 which is an amazing piece of tech keeping me in touch with my condition minute by minute, I have never felt so in control before..... my issue is that DVLA do NOT accept the Libre 2 as proof of diabetes control for HGV1 / LGV drivers and so for the meanwhile I still have to test all the time using my Accu-Chek Mobile.... or I would be able to if my GP in Somerset had not stopped me being able to get my mobile cassettes on prescription and have insisted that I go back to using the less user friendly machine, test strip and picker. My Highbridge surgery say my mobile cassette is NOT on the Somerset NHS list of prescribable equipment even though Roche say it is and other Counties allow it. The BETACHEK C50 is the only other all in one tester I have found that is also prescribable but not on my GP's list. All this carry on is enough to send your blood sugars through the roof, but they don't care at all about their patients well being or their ability to have a good and effective work / life.

Does anyone else have an issue like this, do you use this equipment.....!!!

Cold weather, angry people, queues,
I was told that Roche were still going to supply the cassettes for the foreseeable future so as long as your meter is working you can carry on , I sill have them on my prescription but only four a year , I used to have four a month but since getting the Libre 2 I don't test that often , I will miss the day when they do stop as I think out of all the metres I've used over the years it was the best .

My doctors still prescribe my Mobile cassettes but unfortunately my machine at home completely gave in (the battery compartment didn’t stay shut anymore). I ordered the Betachek C50 as I cannot stand blood glucose meters with strips as I have been used to the all in one machine for over 10 years now, the company who supply the Betachek sent me a little professional form to give to my GP to get the cassettes added to my repeat prescriptions and even though they aren’t on the list of things my county will prescribe my doctor had no issues adding it to my repeats after giving them the form.

I’ve attached the form the people from Betachek supplied me with, I don’t think my GP could really argue against it with the pricing information being within guidelines :hilarious:
