Recently diagnosed with a test of 7.7mmol/L. Have been very good in altering my diet cutting down on sugar etc. Purchased the above today and did my 1st test at 1100 in the before meal option result 7.0. Have just completed 2nd test after meal option and reading of 13.8 I was a bit silly at tea time and had a small portion of sausage & chips shop bought. Feeling very horrified at the mo and low that this small amount gave me this result. As an addition it did take three attempts for this 2nd test first 2 came up insufficient sample? Advice please.

Greetings fellow Sith Lord.. Lol

Yep, the A-C mobile does like a generous amount of blood to test. Preferably just touching and alowing to draw up where it curves at the white marker at the tip. Also hold the device upright, it helps more even capillary action on the ribbon.

Sausage & chips. Carbs are your enemy. I'm afraid the chips did it for you. Though the sausage believe it or not may have contained a few added carbohydrate too..
Cut the potato out "& you will rise up more powerful than you could ever imagine." (To twist a movie quote.) ;)

This meter does give inaccurate results (high) if you don't get a decent drop of blood on it. I recently tested my wife's bgl (non-diabetic) and with a small drop (i thought it would error) we got a reading of 6.3, then repeated with a proper drop and we got 4.7.
If you don't get a decent drop of blood, start again and lance another finger. Don't trust this meter if you just get a smear of blood on it.
Having said that, this is still my meter of choice as it is so convenient, you just have to be careful with how you use it.

Chips would do that to me too. With sausages, it's tricky as they can have of carbs added as fillers. Cutting down on sugar did nothing for me. It was all the carbs as a potato and pasta lover.

I use Accu-Chek Mobile and I can judge how much blood I need now. I do need less than I did a couple of weeks ago, now that I've got the knack of bringing the meter down to the blood drop, rather than touching it with the blood covered finger. If you do touch it a bit much with your skin, the reading can go higher than it really is.

I prefer the mobile version to having to find somewhere to dispose of used lancets etc when out. I have started testing before eating out, so I know roughly how much in the way of carbs I can have. Usually not much.
