Type 2 Accu chek

After being told I was pre diabetic I started testing my sugar levels before eating and 2 hours after, they tend to be generally between 5.2 and 5.5 every time with the accu chek monitor. Is that the correct monitor to use for accurate results? Also are the readings going in the right direction.
