I'm newly diagnosed Type 1 (about six weeks) On lantus and novo rapid, carb counting and using Accu-chek Aviva Expert to work out bolus. I was doing really well, feeling much more like myself! The diabetic nurses are pleased with my bg levels.
Then the last couple of nights I've had the most awful pains in my thighs and lower back, feet like lumps of ice, can't settle, can't sleep! Pain killers are no help. Tummy's a bit dodgy too. I'm a bit better once I'm up and about, but so disappointed with the downturn in how I feel. The other weird thing is my lower lip and teeth feel tingly like when the freeze is wearing off after the dentist.
I've an appointment tomorrow to have blood tests (not sure what for)
Sorry to drone on, when I've not even really introduced myself!

Sorry you're feeling like this, and sorry I can't offer any suggestions ... @juju's explanation certainly sounds like a possibility.
Just wanted to say hi and welcome to the forum!

I'm a diabetic and I'm feeling dreadful is a fine introduction.
Welcome aboard.

Thanks all! Had a slightly better night. Had a snack before bedtime, checked blood in the middle of the night and it was 8ish rather than 5ish so maybe Juju's hit the nail on the head. Although you'd think that would have happened when I was rushed into hospital and my sugars (and ketones which were almost off the scale) came tumbling down.
Juju, hope you are feeling better soon! It's certainly no fun if you are feeling as I was! Did they give you any idea how long those symptoms might last? I guess I'm impatient to feel like I did a week or two ago, when I get I was getting into the way of being more organised with my food and felt better than I had for a good long while. I was actually quite enjoying working it all out and seeing my bg improve.
Overall I'd have to say I'm amazed at the level of support there's been! I feel very lucky they "caught me" in time and a bit foolish that I ignored my husband who had been pleading with me to go to the doctor for ages.
I know it's early days, but (this episode apart) if being a pincushion and carb counting is what's needed to keep me "well" that's a whole lot better than the hand some folks are dealt.
Trying to remain positive!! Glad the forum is here!

I've had my levels normal now for a week and the pains seem to have gone. Hope your feeling better x
