Hi
Diagnosed with type 2 five weeks ago, taking metformen and gliclazide first test was 16.45 now fasting morning test between 4.71 and 6.66 have had a couple of low counts when I have experenced severe muscle aches, generaly feeling tired and unwell is this normal after first taking the tablets

Hi your body will go through changes when you start your medication and alter your diet and excersise but your body will adjust ,but if you get worse after a few weeks then contact your diabetic clinic.
If your sugar levels had been high for a long time before you were put on medication you would probably have felt hyperactive it is like a child having sweets but when your bs levels are brought down to
(normal) levels you will feel tired. it is like feeling tired after a hard days work.

Hi Hener - don't want to over worry you but it may be worth contacting your GP or DSN - the info below is from the patient info leaflet that is in every pack of metformin - there will be one in yours so you can read the full info (my bold)

Seek medical attention right away if any of these SEVERE side effects occur:
Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); chest pain or discomfort; dizziness or lightheadedness; fast or difficult breathing; feeling of being unusually cold; fever, chills, or persistent sore throat; general feeling of being unwell; muscle pain or weakness; slow or irregular heartbeat; unusual drowsiness; unusual or persistent stomach pain or discomfort; unusual tiredness or weakness.

There is also a page on this forum that has the full info that comes with the meds - link below - hope your feeling better soon and even if its nothing at your least mind has been put to rest :)
