I have recently been put onto Actos but inside the leaflet it says its unsuitable for use with liver probs,I have a fatty liver so does that count as a no no.Hope you can help as am new to this forum :?:

Was your Actos prescribed by your GP?
If it was, He has a program on his computer which will identify any conflicts in treatment. If your prescriber doesn't know about your other conditions, You may need to discuss it.

Hi.

What it actually says in the BNF58, the prescribing bible used by all GP's is this:

Liver Toxicity
Rare reports of liver dysfunction; monitor liver function before treatment, and periodically thereafter; advise patients to seek immediate medical attention if symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, fatigue and dark urine develop; discontinue if jaundice occurs.

If you have none of those symptoms I wouldn't worry too much. However it is best to discuss this with your GP and make sure that you are being monitored whilst you are on Actos (Pioglitazone). It is important.
