Hey all!

Well, before my diagnosis, I was pretty much addicted to crisps. I stopped eating them and haven't had a single crisp for 3 years. A couple of weeks ago, I was in a station shop and the only thing they had that I could eat was a bag of dry roast peanuts. They're not exactly low-carb, but I thought in small doses they'd be OK. Anyway, at the weekend I was in a supermarket and I thought I'd buy a couple of bags as a treat for occasional snacking. You guessed it - I've eaten the lot  That's not great for my BG and not brilliant for my waistline either, but I simply couldn't rest until they were all gone

A couple of weeks ago I didn't even know I liked dry roast peanuts - now I'm addicted!

So what food are you all addicted to?

When I use to go to the pub for a pint with the lads I always bought a packet of the Salt & Vinegar Dry Roasted :)

Hi All.
Its been 'chocolate' with me...
When was a teenager I would miss a meal and when hunger kicked in
would have chocolate!
Terrible habit I know, my school/college pals would have chips and I would
get a choccy fix (minstrels)
These I could crunch the crispy outer coating then let the inside of one melt
they always lasted ages this way...
Now I daren't even buy them!
Anna.

Tomatoes. Can't live without them. I don't eat tons of them but I do seem to NEED them every day in some shape or form, cooked or uncooked and I absolutely love the taste of a fresh tomato laced with salt, pepper and sour cream. Also love Heinz Tomato Soup. Could eat that by the bucketful if it wasn't so high in sugar. :( I also love tomato flavoured crisps.

When I was pregnant 36 years ago, I would eat about 2lb of tomatoes a day, straight out of the bag as I was coming out of the greengrocer's shop. I'd walk along the road like a kid eating sweets with tomato juice running down my arms and and my chin. When my son was born the nurses all remarked on his skin, which was perfect and didn't have a single wrinkle or blemish or furrow. They asked me what I'd been eating while I was pregnant and when I told them they said it must be all the Vitamin C in them that made his skin so clear.

I've had to force myself off Dry Roasted Peanuts because I do love nuts of all sorts but the DRPs are definitely addictive so I've kept well away from them for several years now. :(

I'm with Anna on this one...it has to be chocolate!!

At difficult times in my life (and good times.....and times in between.....in fact any excuse) I live on chocolate

Since diagnosis I'm eating alot less chocolate but still more than I should

I'm also eating alot of nuts but it's salted peanuts......I must try the dry roasted :)

Hello Marina, long time no see, I hope you are well?

I used to like corn snacks rather than potato crisps, now I don't have a food I am addicted to, but I have things I really love and have daily (except fasting days). Sadly they are very healthy diabetic friendly things, but would you expect anything else of me?

I've got to admit, Dry Roasted Peanuts are my addiction at the moment. Never eaten them for years and now buy a couple of bags every few weeks intended them to last, but they never do  I also buy 85% chocolate, the same happens with that over a few nights. No doubt that's why my HbA1c has crept up. Will have to get some will power next time I go!

Crème brûlée - absolute addict

Now I scrape off the yummy topping, but its still soooo good. I have it as a special treat with berries and make it with T & L fruit sugar because you use half the volume so effectively half the carbs of caster sugar.

I haven't tried it with an artifical sweetner yet.

My regular breakfast consists of 60gm (two eggcups) dry roasted peanuts, 2 Scandinavian Bran crispbreads with margarine and stilton cheese, and a few slices of boiled ham washed down with a cup of fresh ground coffee. Typically this raises my BG from a fasting level of 5.7 to 6.4 in one hour, and down to 5.5 after two hours, without exercise.
I am T2 63 years old current HbA1c 30 controlled by lo carbs diet and gentle exercise.
