Adjusting background insulin.

Will adjusting my morning background insulin (levemir) affect my bedtime insulin? I used to take Glargine once a day but it was no good so I tried Levemir and this is what I take twice a day now. Should it be adjusted by 2 units at a time (like it was with Glargine) or 1 unit at a time?. Any advice would be a great help
