Hi All,

My apologies if I'm posting this in the wrong part of the form.

My niece was diagnosed with Type-1 Diabetes about 4 months ago; a week before her 4th birthday. Since then we have noticed that she keeps pulling her tights and knickers down off of her bottom, which is where her insulin has been injected. She is very resistant to pulling her clothes back up, and we are suspecting that she might be feeling some irritation/aggravation located around where her injections occur, which makes her clothes uncomfortable for her.

Is this common? And if so, are there any creams/any advice you have which would meliorate any discomfort she is having?

Many thanks in advance.

David

Hello @DavidCoates90 Welcome to the forum :)

With injections you can generally feel discomfort at the point of injection, particularly if it's hit a vein but you would know at that point as she would make it pretty clear, are there any redness or spots in this area ? I would suggest getting her diabetic nurse to check her injection sites to see if there's a reaction occurring. It may well be that's she's aware of her injection sites and is feeling sensitive about this area, I am guessing that your using this area as it's the best padded area for injections and her tum doesn't have enough fat ?
