My first post. I've had type 2 for many years over the past 7 years I have been well controlled pre diabetic for 3 years and the last last 4 years normal non diabetic. I've just had my annual review via a telephone call with a nurse. From the start it was quite obvious that she had not read any of the information I had provided re diet, blood pressure, exercise and alcohol consumption. I tried to discuss what I have been doing ie low carb diet bit I'm afraid she didn't understand the concept at all, let alone offer any advice.
There was one area of concern in my bloods , low sodium serum that called for a repeat test this came back as normal but at the extreme bottom end, she was unable to offer any help with this! I asked about medication renewal to be told that she couldn't do this but would ask a doctor to do so. Perfectly pleasant call but untimely just a waste of time!
Pre covid I used to have a face2face appt for 30 mins or so with a qualified nurse who I could have a proper discussion with it seems this is a thing of the past at my surgery. I suppose my question is for next year how do I get a proper review!
Apologies for the length and the rant!

Hi @ruddsy99 & welcome to the forum

Sorry to read of your bad experience. It can be disheartening. My appointments have been back to face to face quite a while now. Perhaps ask to make a face to face appointment with the nurse, if that’s no forthcoming say you want a double appointment with your GP to discuss all things to do with your diabetes not just your numbers. They’ll either oblige or back down & let you see the nurse - worth a try
