After 10 months of taking Metformin which at the start payed havoc with my stomach (pain) it then settled down .. Then my tabs were reduced from 4 a day to 3-- 2 -- then one .. Now have had them stopped .. I have a lot of stomach pain again like when I first started taking the tabs .. Anyone else had this problem .. Or have I got a bug !!!!!!

I would never stop Metforminas it took me 6 months to get on 1x500mg,I do know my BS has gone down with diet and advice from this forum, but i know there will be a time when I have to go on it again and I have no intention of going through stonach pains again feeling sick bad heads, and feeling very stressed.
I have no idea why you feel bad now,may be like a lot of meds it should be a gradual stop.
I would get advice from your Dr

Why are you stopping?

Was told to stop them by the DB nurse after my blood came back normal .... Again !
I do have heart failure and don't think they are to good with the heart problems !

I don't think I've seen any problems coming off metforin, others may have done it though, and advise differently.
Maybe it is a bug.

No problem .. Thank you for your advice ... As I have said in other threads my Dr is not intrested in seeing me so have to deal with ill informed nurses .. It no so painful now !

Well done for getting in the normal range

Oh, I've been on 2 tablets of metformin until today when I was told to just stop them. I'll let you know if I have any problems. Although I didn't really have problems when I started taking them (I discovered it wasn't a good idea to wash them down with beer, but that was all)

Thanks Jane, just need to stop stress raising my sugar levels now :banghead:
