Advice please on "From Calories to Weight Loss"

Hi Folks, I've created the attached pdf of images to create an animated meme called From Calories to Weight Loss.

Have you any constructive suggestions/feedback, please, before I finalize things? Thanks!

Yep, I agree with resugam, looks clear. Is the woman meant to be the person with diabetes? Because for me, since they are both talking it seems like they are both informing the other and if it were a doctor/patient then it would seems like one should/would ask the question and the other would give ‘advice’. But perhaps I am just being picky. Looks like a clear explanation though. I’m also not the target audience either.
 
Thank you for the response. I wanted to portray an open-minded dr coming to logical conclusions based on what they already accepted and the info from the patient, but not easy to do with such brief dialogue...

I think it's not very clear, it starts off talking about Type1 losing weight due to not enough insulin, and then at the end states about reversing T2 with no apparent change from the conversation about T1, a bit confusing.

Edit: I'm also not convinced its just the low insulin that causes the weight loss, other factors are at play

In normal people, carbohydrate in the diet is broken down by digestion to form glucose. This is then absorbed into the bloodstream and, under the influence of insulin, taken up into cells where it is used to produce energy. When someone stops producing insulin (as in type 1 diabetes) they are no longer able to take glucose into cells and use it as a source of fuel. This means that the carbohydrate part of the person’s diet is no longer supplying usable calories. The unused glucose initially causes blood glucose levels to rise but, above a certain threshold, the kidney is no longer able to reabsorb all the glucose from the blood and the excess spills over into the urine. Glucose has an osmotic effect and large amounts of water are drawn into the urine by osmosis. The ingested carbohydrate calories are effectively being peed away accompanied by so much water that the person becomes dehydrated.


Dehydration is responsible for a large degree of the weight loss that precedes a diagnosis of type 1 diabetes. Although people with untreated type 1 diabetes may feel hungry and eat more, the carbohydrate calories are unavailable due to being lost in urine. Muscle and fat are therefore broken down to supply the missing calories which also causes weight loss.

Is it not also true that insulin effectively regulates body fat storage?
Do you know how the body concludes it isn't getting adequate energy from carb intake?

Bit confusing as someone said above going from T1 to T2. The idea is a good one, but I think perhaps the wording needs more work. I am assuming you’re trying to say that since the various levels of issues with insulin in both T1 and T2, the theory of calories IN vs calories OUT, don’t apply in the same way? Therefore, perhaps a more concise ( if possible) way. And that in itself, would explain why a low carb diet/lifestyle would be useful. If you want to explain for T2, I would make a separate one, personally. Also, i get your trying to show a more ‘opened minded’ doctor, but to me it seems more like they are ignorant of information and the ‘patient’ is teaching them. But maybe I am seeing that wrong.
 
Thank you. Yes, introducing T1 has complicated things and possibly based on a false assumption so turns out to be not a great illustration anyway!

Edit: Looks like it's back to the drawing board, but many thanks for all the helpful info...
