I use the FreeStyle Libre 2 sensor but there is a problem. I am on holiday in Greece and after 2 days the sensor literally just fell off my arm. Fortunately I had a replacement but this has done exactly the same thing. I wish i had used an adhesive patch as I guess it must be something to do with the heat but have none with me. Does anyone know if you can buy something from a pharmacy to monitor my blood glucose. I do have one Libre2 that I can apply but am worried that this one will also fail.?Any advice, thoughts most welcome.

make sure to let abbot know they should replace the faulty sensor for you free. (if get via nhs it will save them cash). Shouldn't have an issue buying the regular glucose monitor which should come with some strips. Surprised tbh that you didn't bring one with you as if it reads high/low healthcare professionals alongside abbot say to test against fingerprick blood glucose reading.

Worst case scenario if can't find somewhere to buy and your staying away for several more days might be worth ordering one of amazon or another website and have it delivered to your holiday accomodation (check deliverly times). enjoy your holiday :)

Be careful which site you use. A UK issued sensor will only work on UK issued phone, so an Italian (for example) sensor will not work with a UK phone.
There's been posts and threads on this in the past.

i've seen a few posts regarding CGM's have yet to see with Fingerprick flash glucose readers cheap and cheerful no bluetooth / wifi etc needed for those which appears that CGM's may have issue with on occasion

Have had similar problems on holiday in warm places… have purchased large plasters for wounds to hold a Libre 2 in place. My DN at home gave me some wonderful see Through sticky patches I used to use when swimming , but have not been able to track them down anywhere.
before you apply the new CGM wash and dry the new site thoroughly. Wipe with alcohol swab, allow to dry again, apply
sensor, and leave the applicator in position for a count of 10. Remove the applicator carefully, then seal round the edge of the sensor with a dry finger.
then apply a band aid, plaster, whatever to hold the thing on! I think patches are supposed to have a hole in the middle to align with the hole in the sensor. …so it doesn’t get water logged?
hoping you have a finger stick/glucose monitor with you, but it shouldn’t be a problem to buy one in a pharmacy..pictures off the internet will help explain if there is a language barrier.
hope you can enjoy the rest of your holiday.

Thank you. When I am home I will write to Abbott and suggest they include a patch with each sensor. It may be my bad luck that this has happened and grateful for your advice.

This sounds silly probably, as I'm only on my second sensor ever, but I've found that the patch lets loose the moment I have sunscreen near it. No idea if the same goes for the sensor itself, as I've been applying with some margin around it since the patches made a run for it... But it might be part of the issue maybe? Just floating the notion is all.

I too have the same issue, when I get too hot or sweat, the sensor starts to lift off, causing sensor error message in the app. I've tried proper plaster covers but once the adhesive on the sensor starts to become detached the app says error. I am planning to move to Spain soon and it would seem freestyle libreis useless! Shame really as finger pricks are so painful for me. Has anyone any ideas on continuous glucose monitoring.

I put a ~25cm piece of micropore tape across the sensor and around my bicep (not tight though!) - I certainly notice the end of the micropore tape becomes loose when wet/sweaty (and I'm careful to leave it alone, and it usually re-adheres), but at least it appears to keep the sensor tape in place until everything dries out. No idea whether that helps or not mind you!

Hello, I'm new to the forum, even though I've been reading the topics for months. I registered so I could describe what I use for two weeks, for my two-hour daily swim.
I officially became diabetic 2 years ago, and before that I was pre-diabetic for nine years.
I swim a lot. and I had a perpetual problem that the Libre often didn't last the 30-minute water safety guaranteed by Abbott - but very often it fell off my arm on the first day, even during a simple shower. Then I found the right patch. Unfortunately, since I'm new, I can't put a link here, but you can search for this product on the internet
Waterproof Adhesive Patches For CGM Sensors Protection
In one pack includes 50 patches, so it covers almost two years.
First, you have to wash the area thoroughly, disinfect the skin with alcohol, install the Libre - I hold it for 30 seconds when installing - and immediately put this patch on. If you did it right, the patch will last 14 to 15 days, with two hours of swimming a day, the daily showering and hair washing after swimming.
I hope you enjoy using it as much as I do.
The picture is my arm, the Libre 3 Plus is now 11 days old, I will it remove on Monday evening (the Libre 3+ is for 15 days)

Dear @JoKalsbeek, if you happen to meet your compatriot who created the Juggluco app, and has been handling it perfectly ever since, please tell him that his program is three thousand times better than Abbott's. I use his exclusively with the Libre3+ sensor and I am very grateful for his work. Unfortunatelly, I don't know his name, but his app the best for my Libre3+ sensor.
(I'm only kidding, I know you won't meet with him since we don't know who is he. But I'm still very grateful for his app)
