Hi all! I am Type 2 and putting my life in order.
Would very much appreciate input from any of you knowledgable people out there in Diabetesland re, amongst other things, net carbs. I am very impressed with the threads advocating low carb (and high fat) diet and am determined to give it a go. However..... am I right in thinking:
that whatever level of carbs I settle on as a suitable number for me, can come from any source (not just overtly 'healthy' ones)? I am excluding vitamins and minerals here as I assume supplements can be a suitable source.
that the carbs that I consume for a day can be obtained from just one of my meals, and need not be spread out over the day's meals?
that to obtain a 'net' carbs figure I should deduct the listed fibre content from the carbohydrate content listed on the side of the pack?
that it does not matter whether the fibre content is listed as 'soluble' or 'insoluble' and that it just passes through anyway without affecting my readings?
Sorry if any or all of this has been answered before but I couldn't find it in the threads.
Best wishes and thanks
