Hi all, I'm looking for some advice please.

I bought a blood sugar monitor as i feel I've had quite a few symptoms of diabetes so wanted to get into the habit of making a note of the readings i get.

I tested it at 9:30am (10 hours after food) and got a reading of 7.1. Then tested again around 3pm (this was an hour after eating ice cream ) and got a reading of 5.5. I'm going to keep tracking it for a few weeks, but do these figures seem ok?

Thanks in advance

If you feel you’ve got symptoms that may point to diabetes why are you self diagnosing/ monitoring.
Go seek medical advice and have the appropriate tests undertaken.
If you are diabetic or pre diabetic the sooner you know the sooner you can control it.

5.5 after ice cream is certainly nothing to worry about!

You need a good set of readings over a period.
Do tests daily:
Before bed.
Shortly after you get up.
Just before a big meal.
2-3 hours after the meal.
After any lengthy period without a meal (5-6 hours).

After a month, look for:
Regular highs (more than 8) in the morning (possible dawn phenominum, try having supper).
An average reading north of 7.
Double digit after meal readings, (Look at your diet. Pizzas and pastas are nice, but very very bad).
Unexplainable surges in sugar levels (no exercise, snacks, month issues, drinks etc).

If still concerned, see your doctor.
