Hi. I am new to this forum....I have introduced myself on the correct thread earlier.. I would like to ask you all for some advice please. My daughter had
been diagnosed with pregnancy diabetes two weeks ago. When she was at mine she tested my blood two hours after eating and my reading was 7.2. Another day it went up to 8.9. I have made an appointment to see my GP tomorrow. I had mentioned a few months ago to my Doctor that I wasn't feeling right, tired, thirsty and he checked my bloods and everything came back normal so thought it was my age. I am passing water more too....having to get up in the night which I have never had to do before. I am very giddy on and off....Doctor told me it was Vertigo. The diabetes wasn't picked up in my daughters urine test either. Do these figures indicate I have Diabetes? I have not been feeling right for a while, tested my thyroid...thought I might have had Fybro because of the exhaustion and joint pain I get. I have been on medication for high BP since I was 42 years old.....I had very bad Pre Eclampsia with all pregnancies. Thanks for reading

Hi. The readings show a possibility of diabetes so further tests are needed to confirm or otherwise. Some of your symptoms could be diabetes but others less likely. Gestational diabetes appears to be quite common but I believe usually fades after the birth. I can only suggest being guided by the GP and reducing the carbs to some extent in the diet to help control the blood sugar

It is impossible for any of us to say that your readings indicate diabetes. It all depends on exactly what you ate in the 2 hours before your test, and what you were before you started to eat. The 8.9 reading is certainly high, but could have been due to many variables. You are doing the right thing going to the GP tomorrow. Insist on a fasting test and an HbA1c test - the latter is the one used for diagnostic purposes. The fasting tests can be unreliable but can be useful. Good luck tomorrow, and let us know how you go on.

Thank you.....I thought it was best to check....I didn't take much notice at first as haven't had any dealing with Diabetes so didn't know anything It was my daughter who suggested it. I will let you all know how I get on. Thanks again
