Have you done a blood test on him? (make sure his hands are washed clean and dry)

I am in the same situation I am type 1 diabetic and my 2 and half year old son has been ill since November last year and every bout of illness his urine smells really sweet so I tested his urine with ketone sticks and each time it comes back 16+ purple and I constantly worrying about him he is constantly getting infections I have spoke to my diabetic nurse this morning who told me that I shouldn't be checking his urine and that he will be fine which really got me angry.

Forget what the diabetes nurse has said and take the child to your Dr's asap.

Do you have a blood monitor? Check the bloods just before a meal, I am monitoring my daughters bloods for a week, how much liquid intake and nappy changes for the week to get her referred! Please take your little one to the Drs or even a and e, I do not want you to go through a DKA as a parent! Please let us know how you get on xx

I have tested his blood on my monitor and it came back as 3.8 every time I speak to the doctor I just get told he will have a infection. This happened to me before I was diagnosed and they said everything was normal until I lost 3 stone in 2 weeks and then rushed in due to high bloods xx

Hi he is fine now I am getting him referred to the trial net to see if he has the anti bodies in his body fingers crossed he doesn't I don't want him to get diabetes I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy I have witnessed first hand what it can do to someone both my parents were type 1 diabetic. Sorry to go on I hope ur daughter is ok and getting better.
