just took my blood sugar reading 2 hrs after eating a bowl of porridge took son to school and it was 4.5 what do I do im on 40mg of gliclazide twice a dayand normally run about 7-10

4.5 is a good reading ! If you feel a little odd cos it's lower than your norm, have a biscuit or similar ? One thing though, any less and don't drive. If you're between 4.5 and 5, have a carby snack. Lower than 4.5, can't drive.

I don't drive anyway just odd to have a low reading like that after what I ate. Dr has told me that 4 or lower to have orange juice but I hate the stuff don't want it to go any lower as off to work in a bit and not sure how I will cope in there if it drops again as I had no symptoms of a hypo not that I really know what that is lol only what I have read

As Mo said, 4.5 is OK, but if you've been consistently running much higher then you may feel false hypo symptoms just due to the drop. I get the opposite effect as I normally run <6, so if I'm up at 9-10 I feel ******.

I would say keep an eye on it adn if you get below 4, have something to eat, a biscuit or two, maybe an apple. Track it though the day and if it's going consistently low, then maybe call your GP.

Question is has anything changed in your diet or other factors recently? I have to be careful with my porrdge dose as it's slow release and I can get a post meal drop myself.

ok ill keep an eye on it this afternoon nothing has changed in my diet and normally after breakfast im around 9 ill tell the first aiders and my manager in work just in case anything happens

Keep testing today to check BG levels. If it keeps getting to <4 then it is probably the glic. I experienced something very similar last month so dropped off the glic for a couple of days and everything was fine again. Then rang GP and he took me off them permanently subject to me continuing to test until my next HbA1c.
