I've had diabetes for 9 years and suffered badly die to neglect by myself not taking meds for vast periods and permanent damage awaiting mri charcot foot.
I take metformin twice a day slow release and on 22 units lantus my levels were over 20 regularly but for last month or 2 I've trimmed them down under 10 and now for past week I always check levels before injecting I dunno why my levels bounce between 5 and 6 so I haven't injected any insulin but I've tried getting hold of docters for advice but I'm stuck on what to do.
Once of reasons for the past month my diet has changed big time 2 meals a day very little carbs and eat protein and no processed food and sugar and got so much energy due to being non weight bearing can't use it so can't exercise.
Last bloods taken around May and got to wait till November for a check up from diabetic nurse
I have to be careful what I say here as I'm not a doctor and am T1 not T2, so I definitely need my insulin as I don't make any of my own.
But I would expect your insulin needs to go down if your carbohydrate intake goes down so it sounds that your changed diet is working for you? Many many of the T2s on here reduce or eliminate their medication needs by lowering the carbs in their diet.
Am I right that you are saying that your levels are now staying between 5 and 6 without any insulin?
