After a hypo

Hi all

I had a 2.7 today, this the lowest I've ever been - dealt with it and fine, however am wondering is it ok to drive in a few hours? Or should I avoid doing anything active?

Provided your levels are back up to normal levels and you have no lasting effect from the hypo then it should be fine, just remember to test before and during driving if it's a long journey and carry glucose in the car.

Oh you did go low there sanober, hope you were okay? Well done for coping so well with it too.
I was told to wait till sugars bounce back up to a 7 then would be 'safe'to drive on my merry way again!
Same with when I have done my gentle excercise class, if dip bit low have couple of dextro tabs, test after 20mins to half hour wait for the 7 to show before safetly driving home .

I did Anna, I only got concerned really when my right started to shake so much I had to put the cup of juice down and use my left hand.

Do Diabetics talk to themselves a lot when dealing with a Hypo? :lol:

I was surpsingly calm thanks to Smidge who re-assured me about not panicking during a hypo. I used to get worried if I saw a 4 on my meteroi at the start.

Handy to know the safe level if driving after a hypo, thanks Anna.

Ha ha ha ... I talk away to myself all the time! :lol:
When I went hypo I was sobbing and lollying about all over the place like I was well drunk...
When I am high blood sugared am stroppy,bad tempered and grumpy , when go hypo am sobbing and in a complete mess.
Total polar opposite's in temperment !!! Quite amazing for the hubby to witness...
Anyone else the same ?

<~~~~ fequently talks nonsense but is totally of the wall nonsense when having a hypo, my wife has video'd me a few times when I'm having one (after she has delt with it I hasten to add) and keeps threatening to post it on youtube and facebook.....some of the Vids are hilarious.....and gawd, how many wierd faces can 1 person pull?...lol

On the instructions from my new 3 year licence i had to have cause of type 1 diabetes it said not to drive if under 5. Im not sure if it said on there or something else i read about but i also think it says do not drive for at least 45 mins after a hypo as it takes the brain this long to fully recover. So i would treat the hypo re test after 10-15 mins and if above 5 wait for 45mins to be safe and re test. if 5 or more should be ok to drive. I seen you are type 1.5, did u have to notify dvla and also exchange your current licenc fo a 3 year one ?

Thanks Brett, I do have to have a 3 yearly driving licence, currently waiting to be issued one.
