Hi all,

I have just returned after a weeks holiday around the Lake District and Borders of Scotland, had a lovely time but oh how difficult I found it to keep to my Low Carb eating. The world revolves around carbohydrates. I'm still really new to it all and still learning so i didn't want to scupper what I'd already achieved which included a wee bit of weight loss.

I had to relax my diet a bit, but tried very hard to keep to it mostly, but I noticed that for the first time since beginnig my diet that there were times I felt hungry, and started to crave sweet things.

has anyone got any tips to give me to help when out of the usual routine? I wouldn't like to give up going on holiday.

I've also got my first appointment with Diabetes nurse at hospital tomorrow and will be telling her about my change of diet, so I'm hoping it goes well as my GP was not supportive.

Cheers Kate

Glad you had a good time.
But totally agree I find holidays harder. Best solution is to go to a hotel with a buffet, easy peasy.
But if not breakfast fairly easy, cooked one just egg, bacon, mushrooms and tomatoes, I take some green teabags as I only drink soy milk and most places don't have it, if they do then it is sweetened. Now lunch is the hard one if we are having a pub lunch, salad a good choice, or I take some almonds or walnuts and a couple of peices of 90% chocolate, or an atkins premixed shake and eat that before we go in. Evening meals I just don't have the pots/rice and ask for extra veg, obviously wouldn't pick a pie!
Thank goodness red wine is ok!
It is worth it though.

Hi Jo123, thanks for your reply, no it isn,t easy but i'm pleased to say i managed to stay on track not too badly. Sometimes it's such a thought to eat another bacon and egg breakfast though, and I found myself looking longinly at the cereal packets which is my favourite kind of breakfast. But I'll be better prepared next time
