Do you mean the Cliveden in this link?

If so (and I rarely say this) GO FOR IT.

Its a once-in-a-lifetime family celebration. Possibly a once-in-a-lifetime treat.

I can't see from your profile whether you are Pre, T2, T3 or other, or what meds (if any) you are on. But so long as you act sensibly within the requirements of any insulin (i.e. do the math) or recognise that it may not be a good idea to drive if your bloodglucose is either silly-high or silly-low, then just enjoy the day.

In your situation I would eat and enjoy, cherish the family time, and then accept that the next few days clawing my way back into low carbing may be challenging. But that is because I get carb cravings if I eat a fraction of the carbs in that delicious looking Afternoon Tea. You may not get carb cravings, so just cross that bridge if you come to it. Plus, of course, you will find masses of help on the forum to help you get back on the LC wagon.

I hope you and your mum have an absolutely fantastic day.

Can I suggest a glass of diluted apple cider vinegar before you go? In total you will probably have 2 rounds of sandwiches, though it looks like more. You don't have to have them all of course. Take every opportunity to take moderate exercise. Drink plenty (tea or fizz) Finally as other have said, enjoy, it's not an every day thing:)

Don't worry about it one afternoon with some lovely treats is not going to ruin what you are now doing and as you say back to plan on Monday so just enjoy it

Sorry i need to amend my profile, i only joined yesterday. Im type 2 on metformin.
Yes it is 'that' Cliveden and a very special day for the family. However i will be careful and not stuff myself stupid and rely on the others to eat plenty!! im aware that the next few days will be hard but have the motivation of starting this LCHF trial with my gp's on the weds evening so that should kick me into touch!!

Wow that looks silly wonderful! Enjoy and do the best you can. I don't imagine this place would be a regular occurrence. You could have sample bites rather than eat the whole thing and / or enjoy a glass of dry red wine with it ! Or you could also plan to take a nice walk sometimes after

You go Girl!!!!:)

Have lots of cream on your scones!

Are you implying that the high fat cancels out the carbs ?
No, not implying that. Just saying that since we can eat whipped cream, and are in fact encouraged to use it in coffee and cooking that the OP might as well enjoy some cream on her scones!

Are you implying that the high fat cancels out the carbs ?
doesn't cancel out but has been known to slow the carb spike and make it less severe.. I think it's know as the pizza effect where the fats in the cheese and meats on a pizza lessen the spike caused by the carby base. At least that's what I assumed it meant..

I definitely find I can eat a small amount of fruit, ie raspberries x 8 with some cream and I don't spike. Without the cream, I certainly do spike. It's lovely having fruit and cream and not spiking :)
