aged related type 2

Well, firstly you didn't get it on may 1st 2012, it was diagnosed then. You may have had it for many years before then but not had it picked up. As far as I know, there is no such thing as "age related T2"; we all just develop it at different times in our lives. In a way, you are in a better position because you've had less of your past life worrying about diets, and your diabetes has less time left to develop and progress.

Type 2 is Type 2 whatever the age you get it, is the quick answer - except that each person's Type 2 is individual to them. On the whole, your Type 2 is as bad as you make it, in my opinion - though there are exceptions to that, too.

The younger you get it the more time you have for the complications to get you if you ignore it. I was 60 when diagnosed, and I have every intention of dying with both feet on and my eyesight intact! So I keep my blood glucose readings as close to non-diabetic levels as possible. It might not stop me getting complications in the end, but it should delay them as long as possible.

PS Had bacon, eggs & mushrooms for breakfast and was 5.4 2 hours after - just about where I was before eating, and well within non-diabetic levels. It was delicious! :D

As you say diagnosed on May 1st, I have had a blood test every year for the past ten years and glucose among other things was also tested usually 5.6 that was until this year when it was 6.3 and after two months 7.2 tolerence test at 16 proved I had it.

Bye the way , how do you get your medic details on the bottom of you page ??

I don't know whether there would be any difference really? I was diagnosed at the age of 25 and I'm 39 this year. I wish to goodness I was never diagnosed of course. And also when I was diagnosed, interestingly enough they called it "mature onset diabetes"..... it was unheard of to be diagnosed young apparently. These days people are getting diagnosed at any age.
