Type 2 Alcohol absorption rate and metformin

I was cought driving under the influence of alcohol (0,59 gr/l). I had had a couple of glasses of wine and under my previous experience, alcohol should have been absorbed and out of my system for a while. The only change in my life/condition between those experiences was that I was recently diagnosed diabetes type 2 and started taking metformin. Is it possible that taking metformin interferes with my alcohol absorption rate, i.e. slowing it ?

I'd have to immediately question how you know that this amount of alcohol would normally be absorbed? I've never been tested so I would have no point of reference.

Most medications will have some effect although I have nothing to back that up. The majority say "do not drink alcohol when taking.." or something similar.

Thanks for your interest.
My argument is quite simple: I normally drink more or less the same (a couple of drinks at dinner) and I was road-side tested more or less about the same time afterwards on both occasions. The first time (before metformin) showed 0,02 and the second time 0,59 wich is a big difference to explain. Of course, any factors may have changed, including malfunctioning of the testing device, and I know one should never drink and drive, but I just wonder if besides that there could be some scientific evidence about the interaction between metformin and alcohol absorption that could explain such big difference.
 
met changes the functioning of the liver and it does state something about alcohol on the leaflet that it comes with
