Hi Folks,
Just joined up and I just got out of prison 6 weeks ago. Been drinking too much and I would like to know what harm I may be doing re my diabetes apart from the usual stuff about units per day. Thanks for any replies.

dry whites, reds and spirit are fine, beers a no-no except for a carb reduced beer if you can handle the taste.. have a curry/pizza/yuros or your fatty carb of choice on the way home after a heavy night, so you don't hypo later. try not to F'up while your pi*sed and finish up back inside.
Fair enough for now but after a dozen bad nights, you may think the pi*s isn't worth it, but wait and see.

After my annual review i relaxed a bit. Since I drink wine I relaxed quite a lot and without changing any other behaviour I put on weight. I drink wine I get heavier. I stop drinking wine and I lose weight. While heavy my blood sugars are worse.

Instead of using my meter, at the moment, I use my scales since, in my case, more than 85kg means high blood sugars.

Throughout all of this I have low carbed otherwise my weight would stay up.

Sadlly, drink does not help.

I agree drink doesn't help. I drink very rarely nowadays, but on holiday recently I found the beer irresistible, I am having to work hard to get my blood sugars back into order now. I won't be doing that again, it really wasn't worth it.
