I have recently tried using alcohol wipe and based on the readings I suspect that it increases the readings by roughly 1 mmol. Is that normal?

Alcohol wipe sare not recommended, not sure if it's true but I read it can toughen the skin. I think there are special wipes you can purchase from phamacy Accucheck might sell one. I never use them just wash my hands with regular soap and water for comparable results over five years.

I'm pretty sure the one's I buy Medi-Swabs, are similar to the one's they used on me in hospital when I was crook.

My GP surgery and the pathology shop use them as well, so I do not know who is right or wrong on this.

I use them occasionally at home when my fingers are a bit greasy. I remember when I bought them from the pharmacy the woman said to me make sure the alcohol has evaporated before lancing a finger / thumb.

Some alcohol wipes can interfere with glucose readings, check with the pharmacist to get suitable products.
