alcohol

hi guys

does a glass of dry rose wine have a lot of carbs?

In a 250ml glass of red there is 1g carbs
In a 250ml glass of dry white there are 2g carbs
In a 250ml glass of sweet white there are 15g carbs

I imagine (but don't know for sure) that a dry rose wine will be similar to the red and dry white.

Carbs in Red Wine:
Cabernet Sauvignon 5 oz 3.82 g
Burgundy 5 oz 5.46 g
Pinot Noir 5 oz 3.4 g
Shiraz/Syrah 5 oz 3.79 g

As a general rule, the bigger bodied the wine, the higher the carb count. The lighter bodied the wine, the lower the carb count.

Rose, 120 ml, 2.9 g

Carbs in White Wine:
Chardonnay 5 oz 3.18 g
Sauvignon Blanc 5 oz 3.01 g
Champagne 4 - 5 oz 1 g
Riesling 5 oz 5.54 g
Pinot Grigio 5 oz 3.03 g

My diabetic team told me to ignore the carbs in wine on the grounds that the alcohol suppresses the liver dumping sugar.... (That's drinking in the evening, BTW, not sure if that makes a difference.)

As alcohol is processed by the liver, and as the liver will concentrate on the alcohol before anything else because it sees it as toxic, anything else the liver has lined up to do will be delayed until the alcohol is out of the system. Or something like that!
