Sorry for another question. I know alcohol artificially lowers your BG. So my question is, is it better to have levels in the 8s and 9s (don’t know why so high) without a drink or in the 5s after two gins?
I'd say as long as it only takes 2 gins, it's worth it, when it needs more the benefits mightn't outweigh the long term problems of alcohol anymore. But that's just my 2 cents, and I've already had the equivalent of more than 2 gins today, so don't quote me on this.

I have a red wine or two as my end of the day treat. I have it some time after my meal as the body prioritises the alcohol so I give it time to digest the food first. Last part of the day drink and easy viewing - sleep no problem - but beware the nibbles it makes you hungry.
