Hello
@Gannett and welcome.
A question …. How are you managing your prediabetes? Another… How recent is the prediabetes diagnosis? It is possible to avoid it progressing with a suitable way of eating.
As mentioned by
@Outlier , the best way for you to know how various food and drink affects your blood glucose levels is to test, and keep records of levels and what you have consumed. Do the test immediately on waking, then before your first mouthful of food or drink, and 2 hours after.
For me, red wine and spirits don’t cause spikes. I have been caught out by ‘low sugar’ or low calorie tonic water, though. For some of the supposedly more upmarket brands the low sugar is just reduced. So always check the labels on bottles.
One thing to beware of is that when on holiday, and dining out, it can be difficult to know the ingredients in the prepared food. So although I know what is in the drinks, the food can be a challenge. As I eat low carb, I tend to go for fish, chicken or meat, with salads or vegetables.
