Alcohol

I'm new to diabetes I'm type 2. I've cut out sugary drinks, cut down on carbs cut out sweets chocolates cakes etc and alcohol but was wondering if I could gave 1 glass of wine at weekend as it's my mums bday??

@trudy1 Beer isn't good for diabetics as most contain a lot of carbs. But spirits and wine are ok. But if you drink white wine the drier varieties are better. I drink red wine and a glass or two is actually supposed to lower your bs levels - but I'm continuing my research into that.

I drink red wine also Gin and slim line tonic,its fine for me.

alcohol tends to lower blood sugar but obviously too much is not good for the liver. Having said that I drink a glass of red wine daily - and when I've had more after a night out then blood sugar is lower.
